DevOps (EdTech marketplace)

WE are looking for a Senior DevOps to join our team in Ternopil (remote in Ukraine). In your role, you’ll be entrusted to design, implement and operate platform functions for the largest e-learning marketplace in the US. Such functions include securing data that span or impact a broad range of the project`s technical stack.

About the project

Summary

Our client is a marketplace that serves 7.5 mln users and 1B+ original educational resources around the globe.

Tech Stack: Back-End: Node.js, Elixir, PHP, and Ruby with the use of MySQL, Memcache, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP (BigQuery). Front-end: JS, React.js, Redux, NextJS, TypeScript, and Apollo.

Team: 200+ specialists in two countries. 80 engineers are located in the US, and 17 Full-Stack developers, 2 Project Managers, and 1 DevOps work in multiple mixed teams in Ternopil:

  • 70% of our engineers work on the project for more than 7 years
  • 50% have 10+ years of experience in software development

responsibilities

  • Improve the safety and reliability of our system
  • Increase developer throughput by improving tooling for observability, monitoring, alerting, and deployment
  • Build tooling to manage our varied infrastructure needs
  • Drive delivery of cloud-based infrastructure and security solutions that allow our engineers to quickly build products without needing to be experts at all levels of the stack.
  • Work cross-functionally to define, scope and prioritize projects that focus on developer and operational needs
  • Create reproducible cloud infrastructure using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Packer, and Chef.

requirements

  • 4+ years of experience developing and supporting scalable and reliable web applications and APIs.
  • Linux system administration skills
  • AWS management experience
  • Experience administering a CI/CD workflow
  • Experience with container lifecycle management and orchestration such as Helm and Kubernetes
  • Experience with configuration management or infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Experience working on a professional web development team
  • B2+ English level (both written and verbal)

preferable experience

  • Endlessly curiosity about infrastructure
  • Take a “measure twice, cut once” approach to changing infrastructure
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
  • Readiness to automate processes in various languages, including PHP, Ruby, and Shell
  • Experience with Linux
