About the project

A modern operating system for risk, compliance, and vendor management in the U.S. mortgage industry is a $12T+ market still relying on fragmented, outdated tools.

This is not an idea-stage startup:

  • Paying customers
  • 3,000+ active users
  • Proven product-market fit

Our goal is to become the default compliance platform for mortgage companies nationwide, with 10,000+ companies using the product daily by the end of 2026.

You will join a small, senior, high-ownership team:

  • 2 Founders (product, strategy, customer-facing)
  • 1 Founding Engineer (full-stack, infrastructure)

We operate with high trust, clear communication, and full ownership. Everyone on the team directly shapes the product.

tech stack:

  • Frontend: Next.js, React (custom hooks, components), Redux
  • Backend: Express, MongoDB + Mongoose, CRON jobs
  • Infrastructure: Railway, MongoDB Atlas, AWS S3, Sentry
  • Language: JavaScript (migrating to TypeScript in 2026—this is a major priority)
  • Tooling: Slack, Linear, Loom, AI dev tools (Cursor, Roo Code)

nice to have:

  • Experience with TypeScript (or strong interest in migrating a codebase)
  • Familiarity with AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and integration patterns
  • Background in fintech, compliance, or regulated industries
  • Experience with automated testing, QA processes, and error monitoring tools (Sentry, etc.)
  • Exposure to document processing, OCR, or data automation workflows

what you'll be doing

You'll own features end-to-end from database schema to polished UI. This isn't a role where you throw code over the wall. You design, build, ship, and maintain.

Immediate priorities (3 - 6 months):

  • Build features to reach parity with legacy competitors
  • Improve UI/UX across the platform (we're good, want to be great)
  • Develop AI-powered document review/OCR solution to automate compliance tasks
  • Build AI agents that pull data from the web to autocomplete onboarding workflows
  • Identify and implement practical AI use cases that solve real customer problems

Medium-term (12 months):

  • Launch our Vendor Management Platform
  • Drive the TypeScript migration across the codebase
  • Implement QA processes and automated testing (with AI assistance)
  • Triage and resolve production issues surfaced in Sentry

Long-term (2+ years):

  • Launch Products #3 & #4 to complete the risk and compliance ecosystem
  • Help us build the single platform every mortgage bank will rely on—nothing like this exists today
